Hail to the Redskins... from my couch

Dude, I am Larry Shaughnessy:

Like Larry, I got my "CONGRATULATIONS!" letter from the Redskins last week. We had put ourselves on the waitlist for tickets back in 1998, so we didn't have to wait that long to make it to this point, all things considered. But why did we get the letter now? Our retirement funds have been cut by half, not to mention the kids' college funds (ALB's is looking more like one semester's worth of books now). Although my job is looking pretty secure, NSAH's chosen field isn't recession-proof. We just bought a much-needed new couch. We need to buy an oven soon (a few months ago we replaced our ancient fridge with a new, more energy efficient one). And eventually (hopefully not soon, knock on wood) we'll need to replace NSAH's car, and then mine.

So I think we're going to have to decline. The only silver lining is that Dan Snyder won't get my money.

Wonder how many fans dropped their season tix this year due to job loss or recession fear?
